About

LIVE NATION PRESENTS:

As I Lay Dying is a Californian metal-hardcore band from San Diego. Formed in 2001 with Tim Lambesis on vocals, Jordan Macino on drums and Evan White on guitar, the band released their debut album ' Encasing Of Ashes '.

In 2003, AILD signed a contract with Metal Blade, releasing ' Frail Words Collapse '. After the album's release, White left the band and was replaced by two guitarists: Phil Sgrosso and Nick Hipa, as well as a new bassist, Clint Norris. The new line-up recorded ' Shadows Are Security ', followed by 'A Long March: The First Recordings'. The band spent their summer on the Sounds of the Underground metal-hardcore tour, accompanied by internationally renowned artists including In Flames, GWAR, Trivium and Cannibal Corpse.

Shortly afterwards, Clint Norris left the band to devote himself to his family, and was replaced by Josh Gilbert on bass. Following this recruitment, the band's sound became more melodic (due to Gilbert's vocal harmonies), and in August 2007 they released their fourth album, An Ocean Between Us.

In 2009, the band released a DVD, ' This Is Who We Are ', including a documentary, a live concert and various additional videos. In 2011, the band celebrated 10 years in the music business with a compilation featuring original compositions, remixes and covers of legendary bands such as Slayer and even Judas Priest. In 2012, the band returned to the studio with producer and punk icon Bill Stevenson to record their sixth album, Awakened.

As I Lay Dying has also been performing at some of the world's biggest festivals for over 10 years (including Wacken Open Air, With Full Force, Soundwave Festival, Sounds of the Underground, Warped Tour, Bloodstock Open Air, Taste of Chaos), winning an MTV2 award for 'Ultimate Metal God', being nominated for a San Diego Music Award for 'Artist Of The Year' (in 2005, 2007 and 2008) and being nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008.

But it won't be until 2019 that fans will be able to rejoice in the news that, after a break of several years, As I Lay Dying are back with a new album and a tour that promises to be electric.
